Large sheepskins
These massive white sheepskins make for the perfect yoga mat, couch cover, or sleeping pad if you are miss Opal. They are just under 4 feet long by 3 feet wide for the large ones or 3 feet long by three feet wide for the small ones. I get these skins from my dear friend Beth, who is an amazing shepherd who raises Clun Forest sheep in Welch MN. Beth harvests lambs she gets from our friend Drew and we grab the skins from The butcher so they are not wasted. Beth no longer breeds her Clun ewes, opting instead to buy lambs from Drew who raises corriedale. So this year this batch of skins are Corriedale!
The skins are tanned at sterns tannery in WI. I really believe he does the best job on these skins. I do have some bark tanned ones if you want, but I prefer the white leather.
Beth decided to stop breeding her sheep when she turned 80 years old. Which I guess is an appropriate age to stop lambing….
